Schools we would like to hear from you by
completing the questionnaire and sending it back to
jhutton@stroudrotary.org.uk
Many thanks, we hope you are enjoying the computers. Stop Press Stroud Rotary has been awarded a Matching Grant from Rotary International and RIBI District 1100 in February 2008. £10000 (2 million rupees) is now available with £2800 coming from Stroud Club including the legacy from Stroud Rotarian Jim Gough. It will finance carriage costs (£25 per computer approx) , purchase of robust printers, and uninterruptible power supplies where needed. We have now sent 100 computers, and all are installed and in use. The Rotary Club of Panadura is working in partnership and installs the computers in the schools and trains the teachers. How it works We are collecting redundant computers locally to provide basic computer equipment for junior schools in Sri Lanka where there are no computers. We will be providing 5 per school.
We also want your old digital cameras, so these can be sent out with the computers to record their use and allow the children to experience digital photography. What to do if you want to help Put up a poster in your workplace, community venue and car Download printer friendly poster (pdf) Contact us on computersforschoolsinsrilankan@stroudrotary.org.uk Stroud College in Gloucestershire is supporting the project and has given the first 10 computers.
Picture of Rotarian Lakshman Gallage receiving the computers from IT Manager Tim Hanks at the new Stroud College in Gloucestershire Stroud Rotarian Lakshman Gallage is leading the project assisted by Jim Hutton. We are grateful to Past Rotarian Jim Gough who left a legacy to the Stroud Rotary Club which is being used to help finance the project.
