in aid of St Roses School Why has Stroud Rotary chosen St Roses School to be its Special project for 2008? St Rose’s School – Enabling Children to reach their full potential On Beeches Green in Stroud town centre lies an exceptional and special school for children with severe physical disabilities and health needs, aged 2 - 19. Founded in 1912 by the Dominican Sisters, St Rose’s has evolved over the years to provide specialised day and residential care to a unique group of children. The majority of the children have cerebral palsy. A number also suffer epilepsy. Many have communication difficulties or are visually or hearing impaired. Some face rare and complex difficulties. The work at St Rose’s is life changing. With the school and the families working together the children leave at 19 empowered and prepared for life in the community or further education. Sadly, the team are working in outdated facilities. They desperately need to build an onsite hydrotherapy unit and new Early Years Department. They launched the Smile Appeal to ensure they can make these improvements and provide a better quality of life for our children. Stroud Rotary is supporting this appeal
